Deva Link – Canal – Greenway Link
Cyclists in West Chester now have set of new links between three popular routes, the Deva Link shared use path, the Millennium Greenway and the canal towpath. The heavily engineered links involved a great deal of earth moving, foundation laying and reinforcement of the adjoining slopes. The Chester Cycling Campaign understands from Cheshire West and Chester council that no council tax money was involved in the construction of the link which was funded from Connect2 and Cycle Demonstration Town grants.
Mickle Trafford Greenway Extension
On Saturday, 25 October 2009, the long-awaited extension of the Millennium Greenway to Mickle Trafford was officially opened. The extension has been completed to a high standard and includes new works of art. It has quickly become a well used and much loved facility in the minds of walkers, cyclists, and dog walkers.
Blacon Wood Carvings
Along the Millennium Greenway through Blacon there are a number of wood sculptures which are the work of wood carvers Simon O’Rourke and Chris Wright. Here are photos of four of them. Next time you cycle through here, be sure to stop and have a close look. They are worth a special trip!
Cycle Demonstration Town Launch
On Saturday, 25 April 2009, the Parliamentary Under Secretary for Transport, Paul Clark, and Chester MP, Christine Russell, visited the Chester Cycling Campaign stall and discussed with some committee members the Campaign’s ideas for the Cycle Demonstration Town Project.
