I frequently cycle out along Sealand Road and quite often there is a car transporter parked in the cycle lane outside the Volkwagen and Land Rover showrooms. This is an inconvenience at best and dangerous having to move out into the traffic stream at worst. This morning, the driver was by his vehicle so I took the opportunity to query what he was doing - he apologised - but there was another man with him who I took to be the owner or manager of one of the dealerships and he was quite rude and abrupt with me. "We've had permission from the police and anyway there's another cycle path across the road!" I phoned Cheshire Police - no, they wouldn't give such permission; try the Highways Department. Highways weren't really interested but took details - try the local police. I have left a message with the local police on their answerphone and will get back to me. The dealerships have their own drive and plenty of land on which they could unload. It's yet another example of the difficulties that cyclists face when trying to get about Chester - does anyone care? Can anybody help me on this one?

Please can you speed up progress with the Sustrans plans to open up the old "Summers Road" from Burton Point to the Flint industrial estate? This would give a completely safe access to route 5 and North W wales avoiding Two Mills

Bill Hale....even when riding responsible have cars and lorries flying close to you 40+ miles an hour is pretty hair raising.

I ride from Capenhurt to Chester every day and had occaision to start from Hooton and ended up on the A540 suffice to say I got off that road as soon as I could and back on the cylce routes, despite the A540 being a direct route to Chester.

There are plenty of grassed areas on this route which can easily be converted to cycle lanes.

I am sure that the majority of cyclists are quite responsible. However, amongst your ranks there are some who are not. I am referring to those who hurtle down the towpath leading to the town centre. Once more I was nearly run down which was only prevented by another 'pedestrian' shouting a warning. I and others are experiencing this type of dangerous behaviour on a daily basis. I have requested they ring a bell, many don't have them and all you recienv for your efforts is abuse.

It's about time guys to get a grip of the idiots - run some more courses encourage the council/BWB to place notices e.g. 'slow down when approaching walkers they don't have eyes in the back of their heads', They might not hear you - may have hearing/sight difficulties' , 'ring your bell', 'act in a courteous manner'. All very simple - look forward to your comments

If cyclist where to act with more care, ie not riding two or three abreast, and to cycle in a straight line and not weave about then perhaps not so many would be hurt. Each cyclist has a responibilty to himself as well as other road users. Ride responsibly and maybe not so many will be hurt. don't undertake cars at traffic lights unless there is a cycle lane. Ride your bike as if it was a car but staying approx no more than four feet from the kerb.

The A540 from Heswall to Chester is a dangerouse place for cycists. I ride regularly from Damhead lane to Two Mills and at least once every time I ride someone passes far to close. Add this to people who have been injured makes it dangerouse route.

There is a woeful lack of signposting for cyclists in Chester. How about a map at the railway station? Signs on the cycle tracks which say where they go to, not just the National Route number? Signed routes to show a good route between the city centre and common destinations - such as the zoo?

What a mess has been left by the contactors at the Brook Lane site on the Greenway. Whoever paid for this needs to be having a word! However I guess this is nor surprising given the scant regard they had for cyclists evidenced in the temporary narrow entrance with its surface of lumpy hardcore.

I for one welcome the new link between the the two major traffic free routes, the canal and the greenway and the existing cycle lanes network. Rather than whinging I think that the energy should be expended on getting Chester University to have direct access at this point (if not already plans) to facilitate cycle commuting by the students to the Parkgate Road campus and between campuses up to Kingsway.

How about installing them at council premises first before putting them anywhere else? For example very few of teh city's libraries have any cycle parking available.
