The Chester Cycling Campaign offers a new membership benefit – free bike safety checks. These are being offered in order to ensure that members’ bikes are always roadworthy, safe and ready for use. Many cyclists are keen to use their bikes, but are unable to do so because their bike is in need of simple maintenance or adjustments such as:
- tyres with punctures
- brakes rubbing or not working
- gears out of adjustment
- seat height needs changing
These are exactly the kinds of simple maintenance tasks which are now available through our bike safety check scheme. Your bike will be checked against a 30 point ‘MOT style’ checklist with the completed report given to you for reference. Any serious or dangerous issues will be highlighted so that you can arrange for these to be fixed.
Minor adjustments and puncture repairs will be carried out as part of the safety check. However if your bike has a puncture, you would need to supply a new inner tube of the correct size which we will then fit for you.
Members have been very pleased with the bike check service. Here is one review from a satisfied member:
The bike service and advice was excellent and very thorough. It was good to have a check list and learn the name of important parts to check and be actively involved and feel more confident in checking my bike before I go on a trip. I now know how to clean my chain, adjust my brakes and gears, check my spokes and mud guards, pedals and many other important parts. I have gained a lot of essential bike maintenance knowledge and would definitely recommend the benefits of this service to all members who need support with health checking their cycles.
